Yell has become one of just a handful of UK organisations chosen to be an Investors in People Champion for its leading example in managing and developing its people.
Yell was one of only eight organisations selected for Champion status in 2005 - the second year of an initiative that acknowledges outstanding achievement in promoting the values and principles of the Investors in People Standard.
The Standard aims at providing a framework for improving business performance and competitiveness through good practice in human resource development.
Organisations with Champion status share their expertise with other employers through a range of activities designed to promote the effective alignment of employee development with business goals.
Currently there are only 24 Champion organisation in the UK. |

Ministerial Comment: |
The Investors in People Standard is promoted and developed by Investors in People UK, a public body whose main stakeholder is the Department for Education and Skills.
Phil Hope, the Minister for Skills, said of the eight Champions: "All are at the cutting edge of workforce development and are not content with just being good enough.
"These organisations are a group where valuing employees and their contribution is the start, not the end and where they aspire to being the best of the best."

Yell: A Great Place To Work |
|
John Condron, chief executive of Yell, said: "We are delighted to have been chosen as an Investors in People Champion organisation. This accolade recognises both our commitment to people development and the success that our approach has helped us to achieve.
"Yell has been working with the Investors in People Standard since 1997, not because it's a 'nice to have' but because it delivers real benefits for our organisation."
Yell retained recognition against the Investors in People Standard last month following a triennial assessment. In March, Yell gained recognition under the Investors in People Leadership and Management model for its approach in these two areas.
