Meeting Theme – Developing a safety culture in a business or organisation has to be worked it – it is not something that occurs naturally. It is a collection of various activities and requires a co-ordinated approach and wholehearted management commitment. The results, however, can be very rewarding. Today's sessions look at some of the activities that have been successful at Urenco.

Morning Topic – A New Improved Climate Survey

Previous use of the HSEs “Climate Survey” to measure staff perceptions of safety culture at Urenco have not been as successful as hoped. After a session of external benchmarking we developed our own survey with 25 questions which seeks to measure culture! This session covers the application of the modified survey and the actions we identified to drive further improvements.

This session will cover the approach that Urenco have taken with “Leadership Standards” and the initiatives undertaken to improve leadership at Urenco. These initiatives can be compared with the approach being undertaken by the HSE on process safety.
